a little love song.

"Stars Fell On Alabama" - Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong

We lived our little drama
We kissed in a field of white
And stars fell on Alabama
Last night

I can't forget the glamour
Your eyes held a tender light
And stars fell on Alabama
Last night

I never planned in my imagination
A situation - so heavenly
A fairy land where no one else could enter
And in the center - just you and me

My heart beat just like a hammer
My arms wound around you tight
And stars fell on Alabama
Last night

""Stars Fell on Alabama" was based on the 1833 Leonid meteor shower. Some people believed Judgment Day was at hand. Many profane people were frightened to their knees. Dust-covered Bibles were opened and dice and cards were thrown to the flames. The meteor storm of 1833 was of truly superlative strength. It was marked by the Native Americans, slaves and owners, and many others. That same 1833 shower, near Independence, Missouri, was taken as a sign to push the growing Mormon community out of the area."
