Please help the Morgentaler Clinic in Ottawa counter planned anti-choice protest.

The Ottawa Morgentaler Clinic has asked for letter-writing assistance in countering the anti-choice 40 Days for Life vigil, as well as the Mother's Day protest in front of their clinic.
The City of Ottawa has given the anti's a permit to protest there. Please send a copy of your letter to Police Services, because they have often failed to respond quickly and adequately to calls from the Clinic about protester harassment of patients (although apparently they have recently improved).

The problem is not that protesters want to protest, it's the location. One's freedom of speech should not infringe on another person's right to access a legal and required medical service. If they want to protest, they can do that anywhere, but they should not be allowed to interfere with women accessing services, especially at such a vulnerable time when women need privacy. Laws and court injunctions in other jurisdictions have recognized this. Further, patients' stress and fear caused by protesters increase the risk of surgical complications, and picketers outside clinics increase the risk of violence or vandalism against clinics.

Please ask the City to rescind the permits because clinic protests violate women's rights and endanger their health, and foster violence against the clinic and its staff.
Also if you can, please write Letters to the Editor: http://www2.canada.com/ottawacitizen/letters.html.

Get the word out that the CITY is failing women and is more afraid of pissing off anti-choicers than it is about protecting the safety of women.

hey vinny! you're back!

Dear Vin Diesel,

Fast and the Furious 3? FINALLYYY. We were all wondering where you went. Must have been perfecting your performance for what will no doubt be the single most celebrated film of 2009.
Shame on you for making us wait so long.

Ps. Your voice sounds like someone pushing a monster turd out of their anus with a lot of resistance.

Without much love,

Your number minus-one fan
Little Lindsay C.

kaboom!

Last night I drank my first Irish Car Bomb.
I'm proud to say it went down in one fell swoop.

But I still can't say I love Guinness.

best news of my life!

From the Faith No More Facebook page...

"Faith No More's Official Return

The official statement from the band:

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat--its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17 years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff....

BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.

Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:

Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton"

the world of the subconscious is a terrorizing whore.

In the past week I have had dreams about:

A) having to stab people to keep myself alive, and the dream felt so unbelievably real, and upon waking I remembered the feeling of stabbing through a human breastplate so vividly that I thought I might puke,

B) eating sushi with Jeremy, but part of the process of eating the sushi involved having to hack the head off of a black cat... again, I woke up feeling sick because cutting the head off the cat felt so real,

C) being in the elevator in my building with a bunch of children, and having the elevator go crazy berserk and shoot up out of the roof, go flying just to crash and kill all of the children that were in the elevator (I survived).

Now I'm watching a show about zombies.
I'll probably dream about gum drops and unicorn kittens tonight, right?

happy monday.

My apartment building smells like somebody is baking a cake and boy do I want a piece.

Today has been just wretched. It's February. This always happens. I feel like utter shit and get all introverted and depressive and withdrawn and self conscious.
I just wish it didn't have to happen because it's so draining.
All I want to do is sleep my face off.

Or maybe I just have a case of the motherfucking Mondays.
Maybe my life is a permanent Monday.

There was a drunk woman on the bus today. She was screaming about "the indians" and "the germans" because some girls were naively discussing "1984" and I think the drunk woman overheard them and was set off. What indians and germans have to do with 1984 I'm not exactly sure.
Then she started singing "Build Me Up Buttercup," but believe me when I say that she took some artistic liberties with the lyrics.

I just want to move already. Get me the hell out of this city.

I ain't got no spirit left, baby. It's on vacation or stress leave or somethin'.

8 going on 80

I just had a realization: I am Benjamin Button.

When I was a kid, I did line-dancing (for 2 years!), I cross-stitched, and I did folk-art painting (I even took a weekly class with a bunch of middle-aged ladies). My two favourite shows for a few years were Golden Girls and Empty Nest. It wasn't until I hit 13 and I drank my first beer that the beast was freed.

Why was I an 80-year old adolescent???

cave in.

Just because I'm bored, and because I'm somewhat opinionated, I just wanted to make sure that everyone knows what a masterpiece Nick Cave's "Let Love In" album is.

I might get a lot of naysayers disagreeing with me but... I think it's probably his best work. Of course, that IS just my opinion. It's at least the best stuff he ever did with the Bad Seeds.
A little taste of everything on that one.
Fucking perfect from front to back.

old people are pervy.

I was sitting on the bus today heading downtown and watched these two little old ladies blatantly check out this strapping Richard Dreyfuss (but older) lookalike when he walked by in between them. I even watched one of the woman's eyes drift to his butt.

It was fantastic.

That is all.

Hey ladieeees...!
